Vacuum insulators, also referred to as vacuum breaks and isolators, are to electrically isolate one component or system from another.

Breaks are tubular electrical isolators which are made of metal adapters brazed to both ends of a ceramic insulator. These assemblies are used primarily for voltage isolation.

These isolators utilize a ceramic insulator, silver brazed to two Kovar sleeves, resulting in a UHV-compatible insulator. Subsequently, the insulator is welded to the suitable vacuum flange.
